To celebrate Malaysia’s 65th year of independence, Bryks Art partnered with IOI Mall to install a Merdeka-themed mural made of bricks at their newly opened Centre Court. Of course, we had to make it special, and we went BIG – literally!
The final mural, with various elements of Malaysian culture, measured 30.080m X 2.048m, making it the world’s largest brick mural.
And that wasn’t all – we also crowdsourced the build, calling on Malaysians to co-create a new piece of history.
We started on the August 25 and gave ourselves till September 16 after calculating the mural would need at least 2,585 volunteers. However, due to overwhelming response, the mural was finished in just 14 days, and we had to apologise to many who didn’t get a chance to contribute.
Lesson learnt: We’ll make the next mural even bigger!
